I've read the first two books in the series so far and do like it. I intend to continue the series. I find that if I start a series somewhere in the middle I miss out on a lot of character and relationship development, so starting at the beginning helps.

I've read some of the Rizzoli and Isles books, but have been watching the TV series, instead.

It's been my experience in the past that any TV series based on a book series doesn't follow the books for long. It would be too hard to do that. If the book series has 10 books total, and the TV series goes for an entire TV season of 20 or so shows and then gets picked up for another season, there's no way the TV show can stay true to the books. But both can be entertaining in different ways. Having said that, I personally prefer books to TV.

For years, I "boycotted" the RV series, Bones, because of how it changed Temperance Brennan's character and back story. Now, I just treat Bones and the Kathy Reichs books, featuring Dr. Temperance Brennan as separate entities, and enjoy both. Consider doing same with Rizolli and Isles, and Tess Gerritsen's books, and enjoy! Both are entertaining.

Also, if any of you are on GoodReads, they are currently having a question/anser session with Tess Gerritsen.
